Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream

Buyer verdictOne of the best-value barrier creams you can buy: simple, fragrance-free and generous enough for face and body. It's rich, so oily skin may find it heavy on the face. Seoul's twin pack costs a fraction of Amazon's price per ml.

What it is
Illiyoon is a drugstore brand from Amorepacific, Korea’s biggest beauty company, and its Ceramide Ato line is a staple in Korean bathrooms. The Concentrate Cream is the richest product in the line, made for very dry, sensitive skin on the face and body. Olive Young sells it in 75ml, 150ml and 500ml sizes, and as a 150ml twin pack, which is the best value.
The Korean ingredient list for the renewed formula starts with water, butylene glycol and glycerin, then a group of emollients: ethylhexyl stearate, dimethicone and dicaprylyl carbonate. Behenyl alcohol, stearic acid and palmitic acid follow, then the key ingredient, cetyl-PG hydroxyethyl palmitamide, a pseudo-ceramide listed at 7,622 ppm. Further down are ginseng water, cholesterol, squalane, madecassoside, ceramide NP and phytosphingosine.
There’s no fragrance.
Who it suits (and who should skip it)
Good pick if
- Your skin is dry, flaky or tight, on the face or body
- You have sensitive or eczema-prone skin and want a plain, fragrance-free cream
- You want one big, cheap cream the whole household can use
Skip it if
- Your skin is oily and you want a light gel on your face
- You want actives for wrinkles or dark spots in your moisturiser
- You prefer a fast-absorbing, matte finish
What the ingredients do
Skin’s barrier is held together by three kinds of lipids: ceramides, fatty acids and cholesterol. This cream supplies all three. The pseudo-ceramide behaves like natural ceramides, and it’s present in a meaningful amount. Stearic and palmitic acid and cholesterol complete the set.
The emollients (ethylhexyl stearate, dimethicone, squalane) soften rough skin and slow water loss, which is why skin still feels comfortable hours later. Glycerin draws in moisture.
Madecassoside and dipotassium glycyrrhizate add a little soothing. Ceramide NP is listed at only 4 ppm, so the pseudo-ceramide is doing the real work.
How to use it
Illiyoon’s directions: apply generously to dry areas of the face, arms and legs that need intensive care. For very dry or sensitive areas, the brand suggests using it after the Ceramide Ato Lotion.
On the face, use it as your last skincare step at night, or in the morning if your skin is dry. On the body, apply it right after showering while skin is still slightly damp.
How it compares
Aestura Atobarrier 365 Cream is the dermatology-shelf alternative, also from Amorepacific. It’s lighter, better on the face and pricier. Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Lotion is the lighter partner for large body areas. Dr.Jart+ Ceramidin is a premium ceramide cream for the face.
Is it worth buying in Seoul?
Yes, it’s one of the biggest savings on the site. Olive Young’s 150ml twin pack costs a fraction of what Amazon charges for a single 200ml tub, measured per ml. One pack clears the ₩15,000 tax refund minimum.
The catch is bulk: two 150ml tubes go in your checked suitcase. If space is tight, the single 150ml tube is still very good value.
FAQ
Did the formula change?
Yes. Olive Young shows both lists. The renewed formula swaps the pseudo-ceramide PC-104 for ceramide CPP-40 at the same 7,622 ppm, and adds ethylhexyl stearate, dicaprylyl carbonate, squalane and madecassoside. Overseas stock may still be the older version.
Can I use it on my face?
Yes. Illiyoon sells it for face and body. It's rich, so dry and sensitive skin will like it most. Oily skin may prefer the lighter Ceramide Ato Lotion on the face.
Does it contain fragrance?
No. The Korean ingredient list has no fragrance or essential oils.
Is it safe for children?
Illiyoon markets the Ato line to the whole family, including dry, sensitive skin. For babies or children with eczema, check with your doctor first.
