What it is
Illiyoon is Amorepacific’s affordable family skincare brand, and the Ceramide Ato Lotion is its long-running bestseller. It’s a light lotion in a large pump bottle. Olive Young sells it in 600ml, and the listing we checked added a smaller 128ml bottle as a bonus.
The Korean ingredient list starts with water, glycerin, propanediol and dimethicone, then hydrogenated rice bran oil. Further down are two ceramides with their amounts shown: ceramide CPP-40 (a ceramide-like lipid, 65.5 ppm) and ceramide NP (4.04 ppm). It also contains cholesterol, phytosphingosine, squalane, madecassoside, black soybean oil and small amounts of plant extracts. No fragrance is listed.
Who it suits (and who should skip it)
Good pick if
- You want an everyday, fragrance-free lotion for the whole body
- Your skin is dry or sensitive and you prefer simple formulas
- You’re buying for a family and want a big bottle at a low price
Skip it if
- Your skin is very dry or eczema-prone and needs a thick cream
- You want a lotion with actives like urea or acids for rough skin
- You’re travelling light, because a 600ml bottle is heavy
What the ingredients do
Glycerin and propanediol pull water into the top layer of skin. Dimethicone, rice bran oil and squalane cover the surface lightly, so water escapes more slowly and skin feels soft.
Ceramides, cholesterol and phytosphingosine are lipids that occur naturally in the skin barrier. The listed amounts are small, which is normal: ceramides in lotions are usually low-percentage support ingredients, not the main moisturisers. Madecassoside, from centella, is often added for soothing.
This is a plain, gentle moisturiser rather than a treatment. Its strength is that it’s easy to use every day on large areas.
How to use it
Illiyoon’s directions: spread a generous amount gently over dry areas of the face and body. For very dry spots, it suggests layering the Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream on top.
Apply it within a few minutes of showering, while skin is still slightly damp, to lock in more water.
How it compares
The Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream is the thicker partner product for very dry or rough patches. Ongredients Skin Barrier Calming Lotion is a face-first lotion in a much smaller bottle, if you want something lighter just for your face.
Is it worth buying in Seoul?
On price, yes. In our latest check Seoul came out at well under half the US price per ml, and one bottle clears the ₩15,000 tax refund minimum. Olive Young also often bundles extra bottles.
The catch is weight. A 600ml bottle is around 0.6kg of liquid, so it only makes sense if you have room in a checked bag. It can’t go in your carry-on.
FAQ
Is it for face or body?
Both. The directions say face and body. Most people use it as a body lotion and pick the richer Concentrate Cream for very dry areas.
Does it contain fragrance?
No fragrance is listed on the Korean ingredient list.
Is the US version the same size?
No. Our US comparison is a 528ml bottle, while Olive Young sells 600ml, so we compare price per ml.
