Torriden

Balanceful Cica Toner Pad

Torriden's calming pads for oily and combination skin: 60 pads soaked in a light essence with panthenol, the four centella compounds, and two gentle exfoliants, gluconolactone (a PHA) and capryloyl salicylic acid (an LHA).

Buyer verdictA good daily pad for oily, combination and redness-prone skin that wants calm plus a very light smoothing effect. It's gentler than acid pads like Medicube Zero Pore. Seoul is clearly cheaper than Amazon, and Olive Young adds 10 bonus pads.

Seoul packs often add a bonus (+10 pads); we don't count it in the saving.

What it is

Torriden is best known for its Dive-In hyaluronic acid line. Balanceful is its calming line for oily, sensitive and combination skin, and these are its toner pads. A jar holds 60 pads, with a built-in tweezer, and Olive Young usually adds 10 bonus pads.

The Korean ingredient list for the Balanceful pads starts with water, dipropylene glycol and butylene glycol, then gluconolactone, panthenol, allantoin and sodium hyaluronate. Next comes centella extract (listed at 91 ppm) with its four main compounds: madecassoside, asiatic acid, madecassic acid and asiaticoside. Then capryloyl salicylic acid, followed by witch hazel, mallow, blue lotus and swertia extracts. Cholesterol, dipotassium glycyrrhizate and sodium guaiazulene sulfonate (a blue calming ingredient from chamomile) appear further down.

There’s no fragrance or essential oil.

Who it suits (and who should skip it)

Good pick if

  • Your skin is oily or combination and gets red or irritated easily
  • You want a pad that calms and lightly smooths without stinging
  • You’d like a quick, cotton-free toner step in the morning

Skip it if

  • You want a strong exfoliating pad for blackheads or rough texture
  • Your skin is very dry and needs a richer, more hydrating pad
  • You already use strong acids or retinoids every night

What the ingredients do

Gluconolactone is a PHA (polyhydroxy acid). It loosens dead skin cells like other acids, but its larger molecules work more slowly, so it’s much gentler. That makes it popular for sensitive skin. Capryloyl salicylic acid (LHA) is a mild relative of salicylic acid that helps keep pores clear. In small amounts like this, the two together give a light smoothing effect.

Panthenol, allantoin, the centella compounds, dipotassium glycyrrhizate and guaiazulene are all soothing ingredients. That balance of calming and gentle exfoliation is the point of the product.

The witch hazel and lotus extracts are traditional toning ingredients for oily skin, used here in small amounts.

How to use it

Torriden’s directions: open the lid and lift out a pad with the built-in tweezer. Avoiding the eye area, wipe gently along the skin’s texture, then pat the leftover essence into the skin.

The brand’s tip is to use the pads as a quick mask too: lay them on the cheeks, forehead and chin for a few minutes. Follow with serum and moisturiser, and sunscreen in the morning.

How it compares

Mediheal Madecassoside Pads are another calming centella pad, with niacinamide but no acids. Medicube Zero Pore Pad is much stronger, with AHA and BHA, for congested skin. Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Toner Pad is a gentle everyday pad with a mineral-water slant.

Our toner pad guide explains how to compare pad count and real value.

Is it worth buying in Seoul?

Yes. Olive Young sells the same 60-pad jar that Amazon US and UK list, and Seoul is clearly cheaper than both. The 10 bonus pads aren’t counted in the price box, so the real per-pad saving is better than shown. One jar clears the ₩15,000 tax refund minimum by itself.

Pad jars are bulky and full of essence. Pack them in your checked suitcase, in a zip bag in case the lid leaks.

FAQ

Does it exfoliate?

Gently. Gluconolactone (a PHA) is fourth on the Korean list, and there's a small amount of capryloyl salicylic acid (an LHA). Both are milder than glycolic or salicylic acid, so it smooths rather than peels.

Does it contain fragrance?

No. The Korean ingredient list has no fragrance or essential oils.

How is it different from the Dive-In pad?

Olive Young sells both on one page. Dive-In is the hydrating pad, 80 to a jar, with hyaluronic acid. Balanceful is the calming cica pad, 60 to a jar, with PHA and LHA. Pick Balanceful at checkout.

Can I use it every day?

Most people can, morning and night. If your skin feels tight or stings, drop to once a day, and don't pair it with other acid products on the same night.
