Madecassoside Blemish Pad
Mediheal's Madecassoside toner pads: 100 soft pads soaked in a niacinamide and centella essence with madecassoside, licorice and allantoin, plus a little juniper, mugwort, patchouli and rosemary oil.
Buyer verdictA convenient, calming pad for red, blemish-prone and combination skin, and good for marks after breakouts. It's not an exfoliating pad. The essential oils make it a poorer fit for very sensitive skin. Seoul sells a 100-pad jar, and we haven't confirmed the Amazon version is the same renewed formula, so we don't compare prices yet.

What it is
Mediheal is Korea’s best-known sheet mask brand, and its toner pads have become just as popular. In Korea, they’re sold as Derma toner pads in seven versions, each for a different skin concern. This is the Madecassoside version, for red, blemish-prone skin. A jar holds 100 pads, and Olive Young recently relaunched the line as an upgraded renewal.
The Korean ingredient list for the Madecassoside pads starts with water, dipropylene glycol and glycereth-26, then niacinamide and glycerin. A little silicone and triethylhexanoin give the essence its silky feel. Further down are centella extract, dipotassium glycyrrhizate, allantoin, then juniper, mugwort and patchouli oils, madecassoside, rosemary leaf oil and the other centella compounds.
Korea registers it as a functional cosmetic for brightening, because of the niacinamide.
Who it suits (and who should skip it)
Good pick if
- Your skin gets red around breakouts or after shaving or masks
- You want a quick, no-cotton toner step in the morning
- You’d like to fade marks left by old spots gently over time
Skip it if
- Your skin is very sensitive and reacts to essential oils
- You want pads that exfoliate or unclog pores
- Your skin is dry and needs a richer, more moisturising pad
What the ingredients do
Niacinamide is the strongest active here. With regular use, it calms redness, supports the skin barrier and helps marks fade. Madecassoside and the other centella compounds are among the best-studied calming ingredients in Korean skincare, often used on irritated or post-breakout skin.
Dipotassium glycyrrhizate (from licorice) and allantoin add more soothing. The small amount of silicone and triethylhexanoin stops the pads from feeling sticky.
The essential oils are the trade-off. They’re present in small amounts, but they’re the ingredients most likely to bother reactive skin.
How to use it
Mediheal’s direction: place a pad on the area you’re concerned about, then wipe gently along the skin’s texture. After cleansing, sweep one pad over the face in place of toner, then pat in any leftover essence.
For a quick calming mask, leave a pad on red areas for 5 to 10 minutes. Close the lid tightly after each use so the pads don’t dry out, and use the tweezer if one is included.
How it compares
Torriden Balanceful Cica Toner Pad is a gentler, more hydrating cica pad. Medicube Zero Pore Pad is the exfoliating option, with acids for pores.
Our toner pad guide explains how to compare pad count and real value.
Is it worth buying in Seoul?
Probably, but we can’t show a confident comparison yet. Olive Young’s 100-pad jar is the renewed formula, and the Amazon listings may still be the older version, so the price box leaves Amazon out for now.
Olive Young’s price is low for 100 pads, especially on promotion. It also clears the ₩15,000 tax refund minimum by itself. Pad jars are bulky and full of liquid, so pack them in your checked suitcase in a zip bag.
FAQ
Is it an exfoliating pad?
No. There are no AHA or BHA acids on the Korean ingredient list. It calms and hydrates. Use a pad like Medicube Zero Pore if you want exfoliation.
Does it contain fragrance?
There's no added fragrance, but it has small amounts of juniper, mugwort, patchouli and rosemary oils, which give it a light herbal scent. Patch-test if your skin is reactive.
Why does Olive Young list several kinds?
In Korea, Mediheal sells its Derma toner pads in seven versions on one page (madecassoside, PDRN and others). Make sure you pick Madecassoside at the till or online.
Can I use it as a mask?
Yes. Leaving a pad on a red or blemished area for a few minutes is a common use. Mediheal's own direction is to place it on the area of concern, then wipe gently along the skin.
