Green Tangerine Vita C Dark Spot Care Serum

A brightening serum with green tangerine extract, niacinamide and four forms of vitamin C, plus a blend of citrus and floral essential oils.

Buyer verdictA pleasant, gentle brightening serum for dull skin and leftover marks, with a lovely citrus scent. It isn't a high-strength vitamin C, and the essential oils make it a poor pick for sensitive skin. Seoul is about a third below Amazon US, and Olive Young usually adds a 20ml bonus.

Seoul packs often add a bonus (+20ml); we don't count it in the saving.

What it is

Goodal is Clio Group’s skincare brand, and its Green Tangerine line is built around extract from tangerines picked green on Jeju Island. This serum is the line’s best-seller, sold in Korea as the “Vita C Dark Spot Care Serum Alpha”. Olive Young usually sells it as a 30ml bottle with a 20ml bonus.

The Korean ingredient list starts with water and green tangerine extract, then niacinamide. Further down are panthenol, Irish moss, sugarcane extract, allantoin, adenosine and four forms of vitamin C: ascorbyl glucoside, ascorbic acid, 3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid and sodium ascorbyl phosphate. There’s also a long botanical section with bergamot, lavender, lemon peel, orange peel and ylang-ylang oils, plus licorice, madecassoside and green tea.

Korea registers it as a functional cosmetic for brightening and wrinkle care.

Who it suits (and who should skip it)

Good pick if

  • Your skin looks dull and you want a gentle daily brightener
  • Strong vitamin C serums sting or tingle on your skin
  • You enjoy a fresh citrus scent in your routine

Skip it if

  • Your skin is sensitive to fragrance or essential oils
  • You want a high-strength vitamin C for stubborn pigmentation
  • You prefer fragrance-free skincare on principle

What the ingredients do

Niacinamide does most of the brightening. It reduces the transfer of pigment to the skin’s surface and calms redness, so over several weeks skin tone looks more even.

The vitamin C forms support that. Each behaves a little differently: ascorbic acid is the most potent but least stable, while the derivatives are gentler and more stable. Here they’re all in small amounts, so think of them as a team of helpers rather than a vitamin C treatment.

Green tangerine extract gives the product its identity and some antioxidant support. Panthenol and allantoin keep it comfortable. The essential oils create the scent, and they’re also the main reason sensitive skin may react.

How to use it

Goodal’s directions are to pump once or twice and spread it over the face before your cream. Use it morning and night after toner. In the morning, finish with sunscreen.

It layers well with most products. If you also use a strong vitamin C or acid, use them at different times of day.

How it compares

Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop is a fragrance-free vitamin C serum for sensitive skin. Beauty of Joseon Glow Deep Serum brightens with arbutin and niacinamide, without essential oils. COSRX The Vitamin C 23 Serum is the strong option, with a high dose of pure vitamin C.

Is it worth buying in Seoul?

Yes. Olive Young’s 30ml bottle is the same size Amazon US sells, and Seoul works out about a third cheaper. The 20ml bonus Olive Young usually includes isn’t counted in our price box, so the real saving is bigger. Amazon UK mostly sells a 40ml bottle, and Seoul is about a quarter cheaper per ml.

One set clears the ₩15,000 tax refund minimum.

FAQ

How strong is the vitamin C?

Not very. There are four forms of vitamin C, but all appear in the second half of the ingredient list. Niacinamide, near the top, does more of the brightening. For a strong vitamin C, look at COSRX's 23% serum.

Does it contain fragrance?

There's no 'fragrance' line, but several essential oils are listed: bergamot, lavender, lemon peel, orange peel and ylang-ylang, plus limonene and linalool.

Can I use it in the morning?

Yes. Vitamin C and niacinamide pair well with sunscreen. Bergamot and lemon oils can make skin more sun-sensitive in high amounts, so always wear sunscreen over it.

Is this the new version?

Olive Young currently sells it as the 'Vita C Dark Spot Care Serum Alpha'. Older listings abroad may be the previous formula.
