What it is
Isntree is a Korean brand known for simple, hydration-focused skincare, and its Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel is one of the most popular Korean sunscreens abroad. At Olive Young it comes in a 50ml tube, rated SPF50+ PA++++.
The Korean ingredient list shows five UV filters: ethylhexyl salicylate, homosalate, bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyl triazine (Tinosorb S), methylene bis-benzotriazolyl tetramethylbutylphenol (Tinosorb M) and diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate (Uvinul A Plus). Niacinamide sits among them. Further down are ceramide NP, centella, heartleaf, French maritime pine bark, a long list of hyaluronic acid forms and adenosine. The label notes it contains 5% of a 1% hyaluronic acid solution.
Korea registers it as a functional cosmetic for sun protection, brightening and wrinkle care.
Who it suits (and who should skip it)
Good pick if
- You want a sunscreen that feels like a hydrating gel
- You have normal, combination or slightly dry skin and like a dewy finish
- You need a sunscreen with no white cast
Skip it if
- Your skin is very oily and you want a matte finish
- You prefer mineral-only sunscreens
- You need water resistance for swimming or sport
What the ingredients do
The five filters share the work. Ethylhexyl salicylate and homosalate are classic UVB filters. Tinosorb S and Tinosorb M are broad-spectrum filters known for stability, and Uvinul A Plus is a strong UVA filter. Together they give high protection in a texture thin enough to feel like skincare.
Niacinamide supports even tone over time. The hyaluronic acid forms and glycerin give the hydrated, bouncy feel the product is named for. Ceramide NP, centella and heartleaf add a little barrier support and calm, in small amounts.
How to use it
Isntree’s directions are to spread it evenly over the face as the final step of your skincare. Use about two finger lengths for the face and neck to get the labelled protection.
Let it set for a minute before makeup. Reapply every two hours outdoors, and after sweating or towelling off. Remove it at night with a thorough cleanse.
How it compares
Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun Aqua-Fresh is lighter and a little less dewy. SKIN1004 Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum is the pick for oily skin. Round Lab Birch Juice Moisturizing Sun Cream is creamier and more moisturising.
Is it worth buying in Seoul?
It depends on size. Olive Young sells the 50ml tube, often at a big discount from its ₩22,000 regular price. Amazon US and UK mostly sell a 100ml tube, which can work out cheaper per ml. Our price box only compares similar sizes, so it doesn’t show an Amazon price here.
At around ₩13,700, one tube is below the ₩15,000 tax refund minimum. The 50ml size is handy for carry-on bags and reapplying during the day.
FAQ
Does it leave a white cast?
No. It uses only organic (chemical) filters, with no zinc oxide or titanium dioxide.
Is it fragrance-free?
Yes. The Korean label lists no fragrance or essential oils.
Is it good for oily skin?
It's light, but the finish is dewy. Oily skin may prefer SKIN1004's sun serum or set this with a little powder.
Is the Amazon version the same?
Amazon mostly lists a 100ml tube, while Olive Young sells 50ml. Check the filters on the box if the formula matters to you; we compare only like-for-like sizes, so this page doesn't show an Amazon price.
